ABOUT FROSTED FEATHER
Frosted Feather started with a simple pair of earrings made to coordinate with a vacation outfit for a family trip to Palm Springs. A few friends asked for their own pair, and before I knew it, I was selling them to random people who found me on Instagram. A few months, and literally hundreds of pairs of earrings later, and I decided I needed a better way to sell. Since I'm a bit of a digital ninja, setting up this little site was an obvious choice. And in the very near future, I'll be expanding my little shop, to a not so little shop, that includes more fun accessories and versatile, easy to wear clothing for busy moms who have nothing to wear.
What's in a name? Well there's actually a lot that goes into naming a shop. It's kind of like naming your first born, but there's no book full of ideas. The credit for the word 'Frosted' actually goes to my husband. We live at the base of Mt Hood in Oregon, where we tend to get more snow than the rest of the region. And if you're a fan of rom coms like us, you'll know the catch phrase 'Ladies, frost yourselves' spoken by the dreamy Matthew McConaughey in 'How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days.' And 'Feather' comes from my very first pair of earrings, and signature style, which is hand-cut delicate leather feather.
MEET THE MAKER
Hi there, I'm MacKensey, the maker behind Frosted Feather. Most days you can find me living that mom and wife life while working my day job as a digital marketing and website guru. But in my spare time, I create beautifully hand-crafted earrings for women who want to make a statement without spending a fortune or sacrificing comfort. I'm lucky to be able to give the gift of happiness, I mean earrings. I mean they're basically the same thing right?!? As a little girl, I spent my days making doll clothes from bits and pieces of cloth out of my Grandma's scrap bag and glue. When I'm not working or making, you can catch me in my flip flops on our boat or throwing a tennis ball for our goldendoodle for the hundredth time.
Can't get enough? Well here are 3 things you probably don't know about me:
- I'm the first lady of the small town of Sandy, Oregon. That's right, my husband is the mayor. But to my children’s dismay, we don’t live in a White House or ride around in limos.
- I would eat tacos every day if it was socially acceptable. Heck what do I care what people think? Tacos are freaking awesome and I’ll eat them anytime I damn well please!
As a little girl, I spent my days making doll clothes from bits and pieces of cloth out of my Grandma's scrap bag and glue. She eventually taught me to sew by making me sew straight lines on lined paper with her sewing machine. To this day, my sewing skills may be sub-par but I can make quick work of a piece of college ruled paper.
- I’m an off-again, on-again runner who loves carbs. I do my best to eat the healthy things, workout and put in my miles every week (with a half marathon, several Hood To Coasts and other races under my belt), but sometimes the carbs win out. It’s all about moderation, loving your body, and giving yourself a little grace.
When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a fashion designer, and have my own show during New York fashion week. Sadly, now I'm just a mom, who lives in leggings and pretends they're pants. Because they are!
